Saturday took us from Owen Sound to Tobermory—a short, easy drive on perfectly reasonable roads. Yippee!
We arrived at Lands End Campground mid afternoon feeling rather pleased with ourselves, only to discover that our “premium” site meant water and power… but no sewer. Mildly annoying, given our tiny grey tank and complete lack of preparation for this twist. The campground suggested we drain our grey water into the woods, which we are doing—albeit with the faint sense that we’re breaking some unwritten environmental commandment. Not much choice, though. And we’ll definitely need to empty the black tank before we leave.
The campground itself is nice but has a definite summer‑camp vibe. We even had to sign a contract agreeing to the rules, including an 11 p.m. quiet time. Fair enough—but they were very specific about lights out, no TVs, etc after this time. We couldn’t help wondering whether someone might come knocking if we dared to read with a lamp on.
After setting up, we headed to Singing Sands Beach. It’s a shallow stretch of shoreline with beautifully clear water and artistic sand swirls. There’s also a short boardwalk over the marsh—simple, peaceful, and a lovely way to round out the afternoon.
