First full day on PEI. The morning disappeared into trying to sort out a custom splint for my thumb—no luck there. PEI timelines seem to run on the same schedule as Vancouver Island: everything takes days. After that came the hunt for coffee, groceries, and the usual errands, and suddenly the afternoon was already upon us.
We grabbed lunch at Pur & Simple, an all‑day‑breakfast spot, then headed out for a hike that had been recommended. Bonshaw Provincial Park delivered a beautiful 7 km loop through quiet woods and over small streams, with a mix of trees, flowers, and the comforting knowledge that nothing with sharp teeth was likely to appear.

As evening crept in, we returned to the campsite for dinner. One of the unexpected joys here: almost no mosquitoes or flying pests. We could sit outside with a cup of tea without marinating ourselves in DEET first.
We ended the night chatting with the neighbours on both sides. Campers here are incredibly friendly, and we’d promised ourselves before the trip began that we’d make an effort to meet people along the way. So far, that’s been easy.
