The third trip was our first real test of how well we could survive on a single tank of fresh water and no sewer hookup. After the last outing, the trailer had gone into the shop for the AC and on‑demand water heater, and just two days before this trip we got the call: everything was fixed. The promise of actual hot running water felt like pure luxury after years of camping in a pop‑up with nothing but cold taps and optimism.

We didn’t get on the road until late Friday, so we didn’t roll into the campsite until about 8:30 p.m. Still, we were noticeably more efficient this time. By 10 p.m. we were fully set up, supper cooked, and dishes done. And here’s the miracle: we had hot water to wash up with. Actual, honest‑to‑goodness hot water.
Saturday, Georgie even had a shower — a proper one — before we headed out for a day of exploring. Rather than do any big hike we just wandered around Nanton, Claresholm and went to see Little Willow campground, which was amazing and next time we are staying there. We did get thoroughly soaked when a thunderstorm rolled in while we were doing a little 4km hike at Little Willow Campground.

We stayed out most of the day anyway and only made it back in time for a late supper and a movie in bed. Having a TV and Starlink still feels like staying in a hotel.

Sunday morning I managed a short but wonderfully hot shower of my own before breakfast. We ran out of fresh water halfway through washing up, but honestly, we could’ve topped up the tank a bit more on Friday. Lesson learned.
Packing up was much quicker this time, and we were off the site by 10 a.m. On the way out, we had our first go at the dump station. It went fine — a bit rushed because there was a queue behind us — but we definitely could’ve used more time to flush the tanks properly and add water and treatment to the black tank without feeling like we were holding up the line.
All in all, a much smoother trip, and we’re starting to feel genuinely comfortable with the whole trailer setup.
Still on the to‑do list: adding shelves to the storage by the bed… but that’s a story for another day.
