Our night at Lindsay Lake Farm was wonderfully peaceful, accompanied by a full amphibian choir that clearly didn’t believe in rehearsal breaks and they were all singing bass. Thankfully, the new wool mattress topper was a resounding success—just in time, because I was fast becoming a sleep‑deprived basket case and caffeine can only prop up a person for so long. Apparently, I am the Princess from The Princess and the Pea, minus the castle and the tiara.
We woke to a warm, misty morning and took our time getting organised. After a quick hello to our fellow Harvest Host travellers—who, as it turned out, were from New Jersey—we wandered up to the Lindsay Farm Shop to pick up a few treats. Fresh farm eggs and two bison steaks made their way into our bag.

The rest of the day was spent travelling north toward Cape Breton. I hadn’t actually realised Cape Breton was an island until we crossed the Canso Causeway. From there we continued on to the Bras d’Or Lakes Campsite, arriving in time to cook supper in the trailer and map out our plans for the next few days.

Tomorrow we’re off to drive the famous Cabot Trail, so with any luck we’ll have some spectacular photos to share—provided we don’t get too distracted by the stunning scenery and the occasional moose.
