After Joe’s quick trip to the dentist, we headed to Strathgartney Provincial Park for a hike. The trail wound gently through a forest, dotted with toadstools and mushrooms. There were plenty of hills, all made a bit more thrilling by the steady drizzle that turned the red mud and roots into a slick little obstacle course.

Further along the road we found ourselves in Victoria‑by‑the‑Sea. We arrived too late to explore the cluster of little shops around the village. Only one was still open—a curious place full of brick‑a‑brack optimistically labeled “vintage,” accompanied by an aroma that encouraged a swift retreat back into the bracing sea air.
Down on the pier, a seasonal restaurant was still serving. Joe tucked into a gluten‑free creamy shrimp and lobster pasta, while I enjoyed a spectacular goat’s cheese pizza—loaded with roasted vegetables, peppery arugula, balsamic glaze, and enough garlic to ward off any vampires for the remainder of our trip. It was gloriously delicious.

We needed groceries, so we pointed the car toward Summerside, with a quick detour to Seacow Head Lighthouse along the way.
